After dazzling audiences in 2019, The Masked Singer Australia is heading back to our screens later this year with new masks, new music, new dance routines and a brand new judge.

With Lindsay Lohan unable to leave her home in Dubai because of COVID-19-fuelled travel restrictions, we have tapped acclaimed Kiwi comedian Urzila Carlson to join Jackie O, Dannii Minogue and Dave Hughes on the guessing panel.

Host Osher Günsberg said: “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Urzila into the bonkers world of The Masked Singer Australia. She is an absolute crack up and will fit right in as the panel tries to guess who is who.”

As she prepares to kick-start her glitzy new role, Urzila said: “Being on The Masked Singer Australia is very exciting. It’s not something I thought I would ever do, but when I got the call to say ‘Lindsay can’t make it because of Cyrus The Virus, could you step in?’, I immediately said yes.

“I’m pumped to do the show, but I’m also upset that Lindsay can’t be the other panelist. But for anyone who is at home and angry, think about this: I have to wear her wardrobe because they’ve already spent the money, so they are just putting in a few clips for me. Spare a thought for me, and tune in just for that, and the amazing talent under the masks.”

The fabulous foursome will encounter 12 new celebrities hidden behind 12 new masks. Of course we are not going to tell you who the celebrities are, but we’re happy to reveal the masks: The Dragonfly, The Hammerhead, The Kitten, The Wizard, The Frillneck, The Sloth, The Cactus, The Goldfish, The Bushranger, The Queen, The Puppet and The Echidna. It’s a weird collection, we know that, which makes it perfect for this show.

This over-the-top costume party will see our celebrities bravely step into the spotlight. With each goosebump-inducing performance, Jackie, Dannii, Dave and Urzila will be left to decipher who is behind the mask, helped along by our carefully curated clue packages that would trick even the most impressive internet sleuth.

And in case it’s slipped your mind, The Masked Singer Australia was 10’s biggest show of 2019 and the #1 talent/singing show in under 50s and all key demos. It was also our biggest launch season for any show since The Bachelorette Australia in 2017.
